Since the wedding is over, and the weather is getting colder, I’ve had a lot more time on my hands to devote towards our tiny house dream. Of the many small things we need to do to make the dream a reality, finding land to park the house was one of the last things on our list. We figured that during the next year, as we plan and build the home, we’d find time to search for somewhere to park the house. Maybe in someone’s backyard. Maybe renting an empty lot. Maybe moving to a different RV park every week. Maybe buying some cheap land. We never though that finding land would be one of the first things we would accomplish! Yes, my friends, we are able to check this off the list!
One of my husband’s (OK, I still get the giggles when I say that. It’s weird to think that I have a husband.) family friends owns a ranch with plenty of land. She was unable to attend the wedding but over the phone a week later, she told us what her wedding gift to us would be: a spot of land from her ranch! We were incredibly surprised and thrilled when she told us and immediately made plans to visit as soon as we could. We finally drove down to visit her recently and check out potential spots to put a tiny house. We fell in love!
What does this mean? We have a place to park our home! We still have to work out a few details (which spot on the property, potentially building a road, grading some of the land, running some wires for electricity, etc.) and actually build the house, but we are anxious to move as soon as possible! We are extremely appreciative of the generous gift and look forward to spending more time together, helping out on the ranch, and enjoying small-town country living. There will be a lot of work ahead but it will be worth it.
This is really happening! We’re not just talking about it, we’re doing it.
